10 auction league forfeits worth borrowing
The best league forfeit gives the group a story and gives the person involved a clear, harmless way to settle it. Keep it optional, cheap and short. These are ideas to borrow, not reports of things Auction League has seen or endorsed.
Ten ideas that stay in the right territory
1. The wooden spoon holder brings auction-day snacks. 2. The manager with the lowest weekly score writes a 100-word match report defending their line-up. 3. Last place picks the first player nomination next year. 4. The latest arrival buys the first round of soft drinks or coffee within an agreed cap. 5. The manager who forgets a deadline brings the spare charging cable next time.
6. The wooden spoon holder wears a deliberately ordinary captain's armband at the next five-a-side game. 7. The worst prediction records a thirty-second voice note owning the call. 8. The league winner chooses one song for the end-of-season playlist. 9. The manager who makes the wildest accepted swap proposes the next group activity. 10. Last place brings the table decorations or scoreboard to next year's auction.
Let the person choose from a small menu
A menu makes the idea less awkward. Give the person two or three harmless ways to settle the forfeit. If none works, let them opt out. Do not make a surprise public task the price of staying in the group.
Avoid alcohol challenges, dares, anything sexual, physical discomfort, public humiliation, money that hurts or tasks involving people outside the league. A forfeit does not need to be brutal to make the WhatsApp chat laugh.
Do not let the forfeit change the game
Keep forfeits separate from points, transfers and the auction. Nobody should get an unfair football advantage because a rival forgot a charger. Your league rules should still decide who wins.
Write down the rule and the limit before the season. If people start arguing more about the forfeit than the match, retire it.
Common questions
Are these real forfeits from Auction League users?
No. They are original examples for groups to adapt. Auction League does not collect or verify members' forfeits.
Should we make forfeits mandatory?
No. Keep them voluntary and easy to decline. The game should remain welcoming for everyone in the group.
