An auction league calendar from pre-season to the final day
A league calendar protects the social parts of the game from becoming last-minute jobs. Set the auction date first, then decide when you will review rules, confirm the player list, schedule any five-a-side and choose the end-of-season event. Put the dates in the group chat before football starts taking over.
Four to six weeks before auction day
Confirm who is in, the league format, the budget, squad rules and where the auction will happen. If you want pre-auction five-a-side, book it now. Give everyone the same player-list date so one manager is not researching a squad that has already changed.
Choose an auctioneer and a recorder. Agree how you handle absences, remote bids and late transfers. You do not need a 20-page rulebook. You do need fewer surprises when the first serious bid lands.
During the season
Use the dates your league actually needs: sealed-bid deadlines, any transfer discussion windows, a mid-season meal and a reminder for people who owe agreed contributions. Avoid filling the calendar with admin for its own sake. The app handles the table and scheduled bid rounds, while the group should keep the rituals worth meeting for.
The 2026/27 Premier League finishes on 30 May 2027. If your league wants an end-of-season meal or activity, a provisional date before the final day will get far more people there than a message after the table is decided.
After the last whistle
Confirm the final table, settle any agreed house-rule prizes or forfeits and close the kitty record. Then spend a few minutes on next year. Who will host? What rule caused friction? What was so good that it must stay? This is when the league becomes an annual ritual instead of a chat that goes quiet until August.
