Which Fantrax auction tips work in Auction League?
Budget discipline and thinking through alternatives travel well between auction games. Player rankings and precise bids often do not. Before using a Fantrax recommendation, identify the points or rules that make the player valuable and check whether Auction League rewards the same thing.
Make a rules checklist before using a provider’s prices
Keep useful football research and separate it from the software rules behind a valuation. Compare your actual scoring and player positions, then check how the proposed move could be made in your league. A familiar player name and the same £100m budget are not enough to make a ranking transferable.

Read the reason below the ranking
The Draft Society explains that Fantrax default scoring rewards a broad set of actions, including key passes, tackles and aerial duels. Those events can support a player's score even without a goal or assist. A ranking built for that system is answering a different question from one built around Auction League's standard scoring.
That does not make the research less useful. It tells you which part to use. A report that a player has moved into a more advanced role can help your research. A recommendation to buy him because he wins many aerial duels needs a scoring check first.
Translate the player profile

Compare the rules before the price
Auction League uses six listed positions. New leagues default to 14-player squads; the organiser can choose 13 to 16 before season preparation. Its allowed formations determine what you can select. Do not assume a Fantrax flex position gives you the same freedom here.
Likewise, a recommendation to stream an unowned player for one match assumes a way to acquire and release him. Auction League uses scheduled sealed bids and organiser-approved swaps. A transfer tip that depends on immediate free-agent pickup needs a different plan.
Treat the quoted bid as the end of an argument, not its beginning. First identify the league budget, number of managers, squad size and scoring. If those inputs differ, a £10m equivalent is not a conversion you can make by changing the currency symbol.
Keep the research that survives the check
Build a note with two columns: the football claim and what it means under your rules. For example, a reported role change goes in the first column. More opportunities for assists is your interpretation in the second. Keep the source and date beside the claim so that a later lineup can confirm or contradict it.
This gives you a reason to buy the player that you can revisit. It also lets you disagree with a published ranking without dismissing the work behind it.
